- Bastet Douat
-
Bastet's soul is engraved by five girls coming from different backgrounds, which gives Bastet Douat a very special characteristic in its performance : variation in unity. Each girl shares the same commitment and love for the art of dancing. Bastet Douat owes this gift from Ara Hwang, the Korean born dancer, instructor and choreographer. More than just giving the belly dance a sensual feeling, Bastet Douat’s desire is to learn and share with its all the dances in the world. From Egyptian and Turkish traditional style, the troupe has moved forward by bringing flamenco and various forms of dance to belly dance. The troupe has also challenged itself in jazz dance, especially in famous Bob Fosse style and received many acclaims. The non-stop creative Bastet Douat is committed to bringing surprises and fresh feeling to audiences everytime they see their performance. The first belly dance festival ever in Vietnam organised and directed by Ara Hwang and Bastet in Hanoi in October 2007 was an important landmark to the troupe’s road to develop this dance in Vietnam. The event attracted biggest media coverage then and many more women have followed Bastet’s example. They start to discover their body and feeling by practicing belly dance.
Bastet Douat aims to reinforce women’s independence and self-awareness. In most Asian countries including Vietnam, women are not allowed to be independent from men in many ways, neither are they confident to express freely their talent and physical beauty in public.
- Hoa Sen
-
Hoa Sen was founded by instructor & choreographer Ara Hwang. Hoa Sen means "Lotus" ; the Lotus flower is a feminine symbol and it represents Vietnamese women and Vietnamese soul. That is the reason why three successful business women (Phuong Thaon, Huyen Tram and Bich Thuy) chose Lotus as their Troupe's name, because it also definitely is the symbol of what bellydance has helped them to express : their womanhood.
Hoa Sen wants to prove that bellydancing is not exclusively reserved to the youngest, but that each and every woman can discover her most feminine and powerful side by bellydancing, whatever her age or background is. - Apsara Students' Team
-
Apsara troupe's members share one thing : passion for bellydance and enthusiasm to bring it to Vietnam's audience. Instructed by Ara Hwang, their long time and beloved teacher, the devoted students' group presents a sexy and breathtaking cane performance. - Watacheza
-
Amélie Pontaillier and Ara Hwang have founded Watacheza (which means "They're going to dance" in Kiswahili, an African language) in 2006, willing to share their interest for fusion with the largest audience. Watacheza has specialised in a wild although very feminine dance, that both girls have decided to call Afrobelly. They're actually combining Afrocaribbean, African and Bellydancing movements, to create a powerful choreography hat is meant as an hommage to the power of the Woman.
Watacheza has received an extremely warm welcome everywhere they have performed and taught, including China, Vietnam and India.
